Maxwell Webb, 16, of Independence, Kan., passed away at 12:54 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in Wichita, Kan.
Funeral services for Maxwell Webb were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the First United Methodist Church, in Independence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Webb Family Funeral Service, 1475 S. 10th, Independence, Kan., 67301.
Maxwell was born May 9, 1997, in Independence, Kan., to William Zachary and Deanna Dawn Webb. He later lived in Hominy, Okla.,, Neosho, Mo., from 2000 to 2006 and Springfield, Mo., before moving back to Independence in 2009.
He was an avid botanist, specializing in rare plants and giant pumpkins, owning seeds from the world record. He had won awards at fairs and was the 2011 winner of the Howard Dill Award at Pumpkin Daze Festival in Republic, Mo.
Maxwell was on every honor roll and had a passion for astronomy, science and technology. He was currently attending Independence Community College and was pursuing a degree in chemical science.
Maxwell was and will always be an advocate for those on the autism spectrum and people, plants and animals that need love and acceptance.
Survivors include his parents, Zach and Dee Webb and grandmother, Gwen Webb of the home; and three siblings Stephanie Stewart of Independence, Zachary Webb of Lawrence and Jacqueline Webb of Joplin.
Services are under the direction of Webb Family Funeral Service, Independence, Kan.
