The story of Jack and the Beanstalk has come to life on High Street in Neosho.

In Roy and Ann Shaver's yard is a bean stalk which has climbed over 20 feet up a pole and into a maple tree. Shaver was given a foot-long bean pod by his son-in-law who lives in Atlanta, Ga. Shaver opened the pod and planted three of the one-inch long, red beans.

They sprouted and have now grown toward the sky. Shaver may not get the giant's gold from his beanstalk, but he did win a bet with his neighbor who said the stalk would never get to be 20 feet long.

The beans themselves are about a foot long.
