Charlene Lou Lowe, 76, Neosho, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at her residence in Neosho, following a sudden illness.
Charlene was born on Feb. 16, 1937, in Kansas City, Kan., to the late, Charles William and Helen Dean (McNeal) Smithhisler.
She married the love of her life, Maurice Lowe, on May 1, 1960, at Kansas City, Kan. Her formative years were spent in Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo., living in Warrensburg, Mo., for three years moving to Goodman, in 1979. She worked as a dietary aide for Beverly Enterprise Nursing Home in Neosho. Charlene was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzle books, traveling and visiting. Throughout her life she loved and cherished her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Darrel Lee Smithhisler, Donald Dean Smithhisler; and a sister, Shirley Jean Smithhisler.
Charlene is survived by her husband, Maurice Lowe of the home; three daughters, Maureen Dee Wallander and husband, Floyd, Joplin, Christie Lynn Slaughter and husband, Wesley, Goodman, Shirley Jean Davis, Neosho; eight grandchildren, Brianna Kay Stillions, Amanda Gayle Steeples, Travis Daniel Slaughter, Alisha Lynn Slaughter, Jennifer Marie Weldon, Bryan Allen Davis, Tyler Eldon Slaughter and Angela Nicole Wallander; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Charlene.
Memorial service for Charlene Lowe will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, at the Goodman Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Rev. Diana Coupe will officiate.
