  • The Diamond Lady Wildcats picked the right time to have an outpouring of offense, as they pounded College Heights Christian 12-2 at the Class 2, District 5 Softball Tournament at Pierce City High School.

  • The Diamond Lady Wildcats picked the right time to have an outpouring of offense, as they pounded College Heights Christian 12-2 at the Class 2, District 5 Softball Tournament at Pierce City High School.
    The Lady Wildcats, seeded No. 4 in the tournament, scored three runs in the first inning, five in the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and three more in the sixth to rout the No. 5 Lady Cougars.
    Macie Seward and Bailey Bien finished with four hits apiece, with Seward contributing two doubles and Bien adding two RBIs. Tressia Green and Morgan Bard had three hits apiece, with Bard adding an RBI. Hannah Million and Alyssa Anderson both doubled and finished with two RBIs, while Lamar and Katie Henson finished with a hit apiece.
    Tressia Green earned the victory on the mound, as she struck out three and walked one in the complete game effort.
    In another game, Sarcoxie blanked Southwest 3-0. Diamond will now advance to take on Purdy in a district semifinal game at 4 p.m. today, while Pierce City faces Sarcoxie at 6. Winners of those games advance to play in the district championship at 4 p.m. Friday.
