Compared with the gym, exercising outdoors has been linked to an increase in overall satisfaction and a decrease in perceived exertion.

It may look like just a simple park bench at Central Park, but with a little imagination it could be a whole fitness center. A simple bench could serve as the base for pushups, box jumps, squats and dips -- working every muscle group. By using some of the equipment at our parks, you can ramp up your workout.    * End your evening walk at Riverview with some hill work on the River Road Trail.   * Swing your way slim at Kiwanis Park   * Do some box jumps at the Central Park benches.
