For the longest time, one of my fondest memories growing up was going to the circus, whether it was in Neosho or in area towns.
I love circuses. A few weeks ago, Neosho hosted one which had a great turnout.
If you missed it, you are in luck. This Saturday, the Kelly Miller Circus is coming to Wheaton for two shows: at 2 and 5:30 p.m. at the Body of Christ Outreach Ministries Event Center.
I will have a preview story in Friday's edition of the Neosho Daily News.
Seeing these circus performers perform their acts is unbelievable. I am still amazed at how they do it. In the past, I have spoken to trapeze artists, clowns, and even to an elephant trainer. They definitely know their stuff.
The circus is a neat thing to take your children, grandchildren, and even friends to.
Well, it is that time of the year when the weather is getting cooler and cooler. I have been accustomed to wearing short-sleeve shirts during the day, but Wednesday morning when I left the house, it was 43 degrees — thank goodness that Charley's Grill had coffee ready for us. I don't mind the cold weather as long as it doesn't produce a lot of snow, sleet or ice.
In years past when it was cold like this time of the year, I would have some hot chocolate or coffee and read a book or magazine. Maybe that is what I need to do more often nowadays.
In closing this week's column, I truly hope that you can attend the circus in Wheaton. It will be treasured memories for years to come. And who knows, maybe you can ride an elephant or win something at one of the games and enjoy some of the fine circus food.
