  • Nixa's athleticism was on display Tuesday at Neosho High School as the Lady Eagles downed Neosho in Central Ozark Conference varsity volleyball action 25-8, 25-14.
Nixa's Riley Dobbs led the team with a whopping 18 assists, while Aubrey Scheffer turned in seven kills and Makayla Stephens had six aces.
Morgan Rogers and Sam Duke led the Lady Wildcats with three kills each, while Kennedy Lyerla turned in two assists and Mallory Powell had seven digs.
The Lady Wildcats also recognized their only two seniors this season, Duke and Whitney Wise, as they bid adieu in their final home game of the season. Neosho coach Kerri Roy said both players would be missed.
"We've moved Sam around quite a bit this year and she's been a trooper," Roy said. "She's gone from Libero to setting and never complained about her job. She's really a good kid. She's going to be missed.
"Whitney, whatever we ask her to do she does. She just really wants to play and she gives it her all no matter what. She wants to be on the court and be a part of it. They're two really good kids and leaders. They'll both be missed."
The team also wore pink tops during the game to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Nixa won the B match 25-4, 25-15. The Lady Eagles also took the ninth grade game 25-18, 25-17.
Neosho fell to 4-21-2 overall. The Lady 'Cats travel to Branson at 5 p.m. Thursday.
