A Southwest City man was killed in an early morning crash Thursday.

Kenneth L. Jarvis, 60, died after his vehicle struck a cow lying in the roadway.

Jarvis had been traveling southbound on Missouri Highway 43, two miles north of Southwest City, when his 2007 Chevrolet 2500 struck the cow, then traveled off the roadway and struck a fence.

Jarvis was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by McDonald County Coroner B.J. Goodwin.

The crash, handled by the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop D, marks the 92nd fatality for Troop D this year.
