Simply put, the East Newton Patriots knew they’d have their hands full against a talented Lamar Tigers football team on Friday.
To steal a page out of the Dennis Green playbook, the Tigers are who the Patriots thought they were. Lamar grabbed a 42-0 lead at the half and crusied to a 63-0 victory at Lamar High School.
A Danny Embree touchdown with 9:57 left in the first half gave the Tigers a 28-0 lead. They got seven more point when Jared Beshore scampered in on his third score of the game four minutes later. Quarterback Levi Peterson later found Beshore for the tailback’s fourth TD on a 45-yard strike with 3:05 left in the half to make it 42-0.
Ethan Taffner scored early in the third quarter on a 47-yard run and Colton Devine followed with Lamar’s final touchdown as the power clock ran in the fourth quarter.
East Newton’s statistics weren’t provided to the Daily News as of press time.
The Patriots (1-7) close the regular season at home against Seneca on Friday at 7 p.m.
