  • Wheaton man killed in four-car crash

  • A Wheaton man was killed and six other individuals injured in a four-car crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Barry County, half a mile west of Butterfield on Route W.
    Lukas W. Walker, 34 of Wheaton, was killed in the crash.
    According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Jennifer A. Moerer, 34 of Wheaton, crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Ford Ranger, driven by Antonio Luna, 73 of Rocky Comfort, head on.
    Moerer's vehicle then struck a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Amanda D. Walker, 27 of Purdy.
    After being hit, Walker's vehicle rotated out of control, crossed the center line and was struck by a 1998 Dodge Durango, driven by Suzanne Morin, 34 of Butterfield.
    Moerer suffered moderate injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment.
    Her passenger, three-year-old Greyson C. Heatley, also of Wheaton, sustained minor injuries in the accident and was also taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
    Luna suffered serious injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He did not have any passengers in his vehicle.
    Amanda Walker suffered serious injuries in the crash and was also airlifted to Cox South Hospital. Her passenger, Lukas Walker, was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Assistant Coroner Charles McManus.
    Morin and her passenger, George Luna Nunez, 35 of Butterfield, also suffered serious injuries in the crash.
    Morin was airlifted to Cox South in Springfield, while Nunez was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment.
    All individuals, except for Luna, were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash the patrol report noted.
    The Missouri Highway Patrol's Troop D responded to the accident. This is the 94th fatality for Troop D in 2013.
