  • A Carl Junction man wanted on a Newton County burglary warrant who eluded a SWAT team during a raid in Joplin last week has been apprehended in Branson.
Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said his office was contacted early Saturday morning by the Branson Police Department, which notified him that Dennis Caleb Goode, 32, of Carl Junction had been picked up the previous evening on an outstanding felony warrant from Newton County. Goode was transferred later that morning to the Newton County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Goode was wanted in connection with a July 3 burglary at 6465 Impala Drive in rural Joplin. According to a probable cause affidavit, fingerprints matching Goode’s were taken off of a jewelry box that was taken from the scene.
Goode also faces charges of resisting arrest. This charge stems from an Oct. 10 incident, in which Newton County Deputy Brad Black attempted to stop a vehicle Goode was a passenger in at 4600 S. Rangeline Road in Joplin.
Joplin officers received word at about 3 a.m. Thursday that Goode, believed to be armed and dangerous, was possibly in a residence at 1411 E. 17th St. in Joplin. A SWAT team established a perimeter around the house, but did not discover Goode there. Three other people were taken into custody on unrelated outstanding warrants.
