  • A 101-year-old motorist died of injuries she received in an accident Tuesday afternoon.
Dead is Ova C. Rice, Rolla, who was driving a 1986 Lincoln Town Car east on Third Street at Olive Street.
The Rolla Police Department in a statement said a 2000 Nissan Maxima driven by Brooke L. Hobaugh, 18, Rolla, was traveling south on Olive Street at Third Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign.
The Lincoln Town Car struck the Nissan Maxima, diverting the Lincoln south on Olive Street. The Lincoln then struck a utility pole at Olive and Second streets.

Damage to the Lincoln was major; damage to the Nissan was moderate, police said.
    Hobaugh was not hurt.
According to the Phelps County deputy coroner, Rice was airlifted to Columbia and passed away later in the afternoon as a result of injuries she suffered in the accident. The case has been remanded back to the Phelps County coroner's office for further review.
Her next of kin was notified.
Police were assisted by the City of Rolla Fire and Rescue, Phelps County Ambulance District, the Phelps County coroner's office and Rolla Municipal Utilities.
