  • Organizers are gearing up for the third annual Craft Show at George Washington Carver Elementary School.
The event – which is put on by the school's PTO — will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., adults are $2 and kids are free.
Saturday's tickets can be purchased at the door. However, for those who want to shop early, Ashley Crane, coordinator of the craft show, stated there is an event on Friday.
"We have our VIP (event on) Friday night, it is from 7-9 p.m. we sell tickets in advance for $10," said Crane. "We serve desserts for the people who buy the tickets and they get to shop early for two hours. And they can come back early for Saturday if they like."
To purchase tickets for the Friday event, call Carver Elementary School at 451-8690. Today is the last day to purchase the $10 tickets.
"We will have around 100 vendors," she said.
Crane said that people can shop for early Christmas gifts.
"We have candles, jewelry, refinished furniture, salsa, lots of different vendors," she said. "Lots of different vendors.
(There are) scarves, hats and nice home décor. (Also) burlap is in this year, we have lots of vendors using burlap."
The money raised from this event goes to a great cause.
"To raise money for our school and to help buy (items)," Crane said. "The first year, we bought an outdoor classroom, last year we bought a big piece of playground equipment. And we are hoping to buy another piece with the profits this year. A part of our proceeds goes to Bright Futures."
Attendance has been good for this event. Last year, Crane said they saw around 3,000 people.
"We are hoping to have more this year," she said.
