  • Returning from a long holiday break, the Seneca Indians basketball team probably feels like it received the perfect Christmas gift when it returned to the floor on Saturday.
After missing a handful of games due to an injury, Indians senior Chance Smith returned to action and poured in 13 points as the Indians squeezed past Nevada, 64-60, in varsity action at Nevada High School.
    Seneca improved to 5-3 overall.
Smith was one of three Indians to put up double figures, as Tyrell Hembree led the team with 20 points and Elias Roelfsema closely followed with 19. Seth Harris netted six points and Mac Yust scored two.
“It was a good game back,” Indians coach Will King said. “It was Smith’s first game back after injury, so it was good to get him back out there. It was good to go on the road and get a road win against Nevada.”
The Indians entertain St. Mary’s-Colgan at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
