“At 2:15 p.m. Monday, Newton County Sheriff’s office, along with Neosho police officers served a search warrant at 308 N. College St., Neosho,” Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said.  “We had a search warrant for narcotics. We did obtain some narcotics, believed to be meth (methamphetamines), as well as some paraphernalia. We arrested Derrick M. Clouse, 28 of that address. He was arrested on probable cause for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. We also arrested a 22-year-old female, Jesse Jeen Lesley, of Neosho address. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance.”
The sheriff also noted that a young child was taken from the address.
“We also removed a 7-year-old girl, (she) was taken into custody for safe keeping, removed from that residence,” said Copeland.
As far as how law enforcement officers were notified of the drugs, Copeland said, “we received information about and were able to get a search warrant.”
Clouse and Lesley remain in custody in the Newton County Jail.
