  • The Friends of the Library are gearing up for the annual book sale, which begins today and runs through Saturday at the Neosho-Newton County Library, 201 W. Spring St., Neosho.
“We hope people will come and find that one piece of treasure they’ve always been looking for,” said Ginny Ray, director of the Neosho – Newton County Library.
She encourages the public to do some literary treasure seeking the next few days during the annual book sale.
Ray said a large variety of gently used books are available; some have been weeded from the library’s collection, and others were donated to the friends for this sale. She said you can choose from fiction and non-fiction books, biographies, children’s books, cookbooks, self-help and how-to books.

Donations of books for the sale are being accepted until today.
Book sale hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Ray said the Friends of the Library use the proceeds from their annual book sale to support the library in many ways.
“They sometime will buy equipment or furniture for us,” she said. “They buy the subscription to ‘Book Page’ that we have, which is a monthly magazine for booklovers that gives reviews of new books that’s really popular with people. They also recently purchased a piece of software that allows people to connect to the library’s catalogue through their “Facebook” accounts.”
Ray noted the friends have matched grant requests in the past to purchase technology for the library, so they truly are Friends of the Library.
