  • Want to try some great food and wine, while donating to a good cause? Then Macadoodles of Joplin, 3105 E. 17th St., will be the place to be today.
Macadoodles of Joplin, and Rebuild Joplin, are hosting the 7th Annual Spring into Summer Wine, Beer, & Spirits tasting from 1-4 p.m. today.
“We are still helping out with Rebuild Joplin, they are sponsor that we have chosen to help with proceeds that we raise from the wine tasting,” said Debbie Blackmon, wine cellar manager. “
Rebuild Joplin has been our sponsor since the tornado and we continue to assist them with funds because they don’t have any other funding except for matching grants. They are still helping families that were affected by the 2011 tornado. Any money that we can help with just is going to help another family get a kitchen finished or windows or a roof or something. They are still doing phenomenal work for the citizens in this area. People that still need help who were in the affected areas can still go to Rebuild Joplin on things for rebuilding their homes and getting their lives back together.”
Participants must be 21 years or older to attend the wine tasting event. They must also have their ID to get in, where they will receive an armband. It is a donation base fee or there will be wine glasses for sale $15 each.
This year, the event will feature 19 different vendors, along with five different restaurants.
“We will have between 100-125 wines, about 30 spirits and 15 beers,” she said.
Blackmon said the restaurants include The Briarbrook Restaurant and Bar, Qdoba Mexical Grill, Carmin’s Mobile Wood Fire Pizza, Garfield’s and Galena Main Street Deli.
There will also be a silent auction with items ranging from a basketball hoop to ice chests to tents to folding chairs to umbrellas to saws and other items.
Blackmon said that people come from the Four-State area – including Neosho – to attend this event.
Also, they can talk to the vendors’ reps about what wine to serve with a steak or chicken or fish.
Overall, Blackmon is pleased with the response.
“It is a good event, it is fun, you get to try some wine, some great food and it benefits Rebuild Joplin,” she said.
