Organizers are putting the final touches on the 31st annual Old Mining Town Days (OMTD).

The three-day event begins Friday and concludes on Sunday with an assortment of activities for the entire family.

Aside from a few activities, most of them will be held at Dick Smith Park in Granby.

“It is to bring a fun community event yearly to our local community concentrating on Granby’s history,” said Mandy Culp, chairperson of the OMTD.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday. One of the highlights for the Friday night activities is recognizing the honored citizen.

“Voting is done by citizens of Granby for honored citizen,” said Culp.

There will also be a carnival from 6-10 p.m. nightly (wristband $15) and several food vendors and some specialty vendors throughout the three-day event.
Music will also highlight the days.

Bright and early Saturday morning – actually at 7 a.m. – the annual Granby Lions Club 5K Run and Pancake Breakfast will be held by the Granby Fire Station. For more information on the run, contact 439-4251 or 472-6980.

At 8 a.m. at the Granby ball fields, countless cars will be showcased at the car show.

For Sunday, there will be two ball games, one for the women and one for the men, also at the ball fields.

Capping off the event will be the fireworks display — at Dick Smith Park — starting at 9:30 p.m.

Culp said that around 2,000 people attend the three-day event.

Culp is pleased with the committee and the community for coming together for this annual event.

“Our committee has done an outstanding job this year,” she said. “OMTD is very unique we are the ‘Oldest Mining Town in the Southwest.’”
