  • OUR VIEW: Rain doesn’t dampen spirit of celebration

    • email print
  • “Rain, rain, go away / come again another day” was likely murmured more than once as a downpour threatened to end Celebrate Neosho festivities at the airport.
However, the rain stopped long enough for activities to continue, including an airshow by stunt pilot Matt Younkin and fireworks.
This year’s event truly offered something for everyone. For the kids, there was games at Morse Park such as tug of war, sack races and a wheelbarrow race, as well as a fishing derby and a duck race. There was a 5K run for the fitness buffs, a car show for auto enthusiasts, a battle of the bands for music lovers, the aerobatic show which delighted aviation buffs of all ages, and a massive pyrotechnics display to cap off the evening.
We want to thank the city of Neosho for organizing this event. Hundreds of hours on the part of many people obviously went into the organizing and planning and implementation of this event. We also thank the many sponsors for supporting Celebrate Neosho. This event couldn’t happen without you.
With support like this, Celebrate Neosho gets bigger and better each year. We hope that continues in the years to come.
And we continue to hope that next year’s event will see sunny skies and warm — but not too warm — temperatures!
