Contractors working to finish the future Faithful Friends Animal Advocates animal shelter have been slowed in their efforts by the loss of many of their tools.
Newton County Sheriff’s Department officials disclosed that deputies were alerted Monday morning that the 11281 E. Missouri Highway 86 facility, just west of the Neosho city limits, had been burglarized.
Captain Richard Leavens reported that many construction tools and materials were allegedly stolen, including saws, routers, a belt sander, home sander, planer, nailer, air compressor, vises, clamps, copper, scrap wire and more. Leavens estimates the loss at $2,700.
He said no forced entry was detected, and no suspects have yet been identified.
