Willard E. Ethridge, 84, Neosho, died July 29, 2014, at Medicalodge in Neosho following a short illness.
Willard was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Fairview, the son of Chester and Lilly (Miller) Ethridge. He returned to the area from Independence 34 years ago and had worked at Missouri Portland Cemetery Company in Sugar Creek, Mo. He loved flowers, enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing guitar, fishing and hunting. He was a former Boy Scout leader in Independence for three years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Neosho Community Chapel and had been active in the nursing home ministry, 1990-2006 and with the prison ministry.
Willard is survived by nine children, Dale Eugene Ethridge, Tina Ann Ashby, Lisa Diane Larrimore, Tony, Bill, Kimberly, Kathy, Mike and Angelique Trusty; four brothers, Wayne, Kenneth, Don and Glenn Ethridge; two sisters, Ruby Irene Moss and Ella Carter; and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Joseph Ethridge.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Clifford Smith and Ernest Friend will officiate. Interment will be in the Macedonia Cemetery and family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. today and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Willard may be made to Neosho Community Chapel, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.
