  • A Neosho home sustained extensive damage in a Saturday night fire that has been labeled as suspicious.
Mike Eads, fire chief, said the State Fire Marshall has been brought in to investigate the blaze at 432 Ravenwood Circle.
Eads said firefighters responding to the 9:38 p.m. alarm arrived to find smoke coming from the eaves and roof, and flames were visible from the soffit on the south end of the single story wood frame structure. Eads said firefighters first extinguished the fire on the outside before making an interior attack, then had to pull ceiling from a couple of rooms to get the fire on the south end of the home.
Damage to the home, owned by Dustin Davis, is estimated at $25,000, and Eads said another $10,000 in contents was lost. The estimated total value of the home and its contents is $200,000. He said the family was home at the time of the blaze, but all were able to escape unharmed.
Eads said Neosho police and the State Fire Marshall are investigating the origin of the fire. He said a couple of items found in the guttering were deemed as suspicious.
Two fire trucks and seven personnel were on the scene for about an hour.
