Organizers are putting on a gun show, with some of the proceeds going to a good cause.

The White Buffalo Traders Gun Show will be held for two days, Sept. 20-21 at the Newton county Fairgrounds, 700 Field Ave., Neosho. Dealers of guns, knives, hunting, concealed carry and coin buyers will be on hand for the event.

“We are going to get as many tables as we can in there, possibly around 200,” said Virginia Carroll, promoter. “Admission is $10, a dollar off for a coupon they will be all over town. We will be serving lunch that day – that is not included in the price of admission. We are helping them (fairgrounds) get started on their second building, we are trying to raise a little bit of money for them.”

The times for the event will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 and then from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21. Children under 12 are admitted free accompanied by their parents.

Asked why they opted to put the event in Neosho, Carroll said, “My guys make more money in small towns than they do when they go in larger towns. We don’t know why. They get better deals. I like Neosho. Neosho supports Neosho, I like that. Everybody loves Neosho.”

She said dealers from Missouri and Oklahoma will be on hand.

“We already have people calling in, sending checks, if people want in (vendor) they need to let me know now,” she said. “We will have people in there to tell people what it (guns) are worth and tell them what it is. The response from Neosho has been phenomenal, the response from Newton County has been better yet.”

Another aspect with this show will be geared toward the women.

“There will be a women’s section in there, we don’t know what it is going to be,” Carroll said. “But more women over the age of 55 are buying handguns right now than any other segment of the population. That is because of self protection.”
