Two juveniles allegedly responsible for burglaries and destruction at Neosho High School and other areas in town in the days before school started for the year last week have been arrested.
Dave McCracken, Neosho police chief, announced that the investigation led authorities to the 800 block of Walnut St. about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, where both a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old male suspect were identified, and from where evidence stolen during the course of the crimes was recovered.
McCracken said questioning of the two suspects revealed that they were responsible for burglarizing or vandalizing the Neosho High School agriculture building, high school trailer No. 1, the concession stands at both the high school football and baseball fields, the Morse Park concession stand, and stealing two vehicles from Rex Pearson’s Auto Sales.
He said the investigation revealed that a vehicle located on Hill St. in Neosho had been stolen by the two suspects in Joplin.
Their names are withheld until formal charges have been filed with the Juvenile Courts and the Newton County Prosecuting Attorney.
