Sometimes, it is nice to just stay at home, have dinner and play board or card games. That is what Tina, Lynn and I did recently.
Tina cooked, while Lynn and I set the table. After the dinner, Tina brought out a couple of card games: Scrabble Slam and Monopoly Deal Card Game.
Scrabble Slam is a fast-paced word game, where anything could happen. Race against each other to change the existing four-letter word and get rid of your cards. “Game” could become “fame” and “fame” could become “fate.” The object is for the first player to get rid of all of their cards wins.
In this particular game, I was not the winner. Actually, we played three games, with Tina and Lynn winning.
The Monopoly game is a fast-paced, addictive card game, where one’s luck can change in the play of a card. Players are to collect three property sets, but beware of Debt Collectors, Forced Deals, and the dreaded Deal Breakers, which could change one’s fortunes at any time.
Now even though Tina and Lynn won on Scrabble, the tables would soon turn.
Lynn won the first game, Tina won the second game and finally, I won a game.
But the fun didn’t end there. We then opened the regular Scrabble board game and for the next 30 minutes, we kept score and built upon words until the winner was announced.
You know, when we started playing the games the other day, we thought, well it would only be about 30 minutes — it turned out to be two and a half hours of fun.
So as the weather looks like there will be snow, snow and — did I mention snow? — it might be nice to just sit around the table, have some dinner and play some more games. Who knows, maybe this time, I will win more than one.
