Neosho youth football finds wins against Carl Junction

Neosho Youth Football took on Carl Junction Saturday. The Black teams played at Bob Anderson Stadium while the Gold teams traveled to Carl Junction’s Bulldog Stadium.

The Neosho Youth Football League season kicked off last weekend against the Carl Junction Bulldogs. The Gold teams traveled to Carl Junction while the Black teams got to open their season in the friendly confines of Bob Anderson Stadium.

The Neosho Gold team went 2-2 against the Carl Junction Red football team, while the Neosho Black went 1-3 against Carl Junction White.

This week, Neosho Black entertains Webb City Red, while Neosho Gold has a bye week.

GOLD
THIRD GRADE

Domenick Kirkwood was the star on offense and defense for the Neosho Gold third graders. Kirkwood led the team with 19 yards rushing and also paced the Wildcats with five tackles on defense.

Unfortunately, Carl Junction defeated Neosho 8-0 in a defensive struggle.

Dalton Brodie had 15 yards rushing for Neosho Gold. Chase Liedtke had four tackles and a fumble recovery. Cayden Auch, Brodie, Landon Kivett, and Trenton Middleton all had three tackles for Neosho. Middleton also had a fumble recovery for the Wildcats.

FOURTH GRADE
Jace Parmley was a big play machine for the Wildcats. Parmley ran for a 60-yard touchdown and brought back a kickoff 70 yards for another score as the Neosho Gold fourth graders topped Carl Junction 12-0.

Neosho ran for 138 yards as a team against the Bulldogs. Gage Kelly had 39 yards on the ground, Hunter Mason had 30 yards and Isiah Santiago ran for 14 tough yards.

A.J. Van Lear completed one pass for four yards to Parmley.

Defensively, Van Lear led the Wildcats with nine tackles. Santiago had seven stops while Kelly, Mason and Chase Capps had four tackles each. Parmley added an interception on defense.

FIFTH GRADE
In possibly the most exciting game on Saturday, the Neosho Gold fifth graders fell to Carl Juntion Red 28-22 in triple overtime.

Dylan Jordan ran for 94 yards and a touchdown to pace the Neosho attack. Braxton Barnes ran for 26 yards and a score as well. Payton Ezell and Colton Mouse ran for 16 and 12 yards, respectively.

Jacob Santiago led the Wildcats with eight tackles, Mouse tallied seven stops, Barnes had six tackles and Ezell had five. Devin Flynn came up with a pair of big turnovers for Neosho, picking off a pass and also recovering a fumble in the loss.

SIXTH GRADE
Moving the football was certainly not an issue for the Neosho Gold sixth graders on Saturday. The Wildcats gained 317 yards of offense and beat Carl Junction 38-12.

Brady Wise ran for 105 yards and a touchdown in the win to pace a ground attack that totaled 282 yards. Jarvis Funk ran for two touchdowns. Gavin Kelley and Jared Scribner ran for 53 and 51 yards, respectively.

THIRD GRADE

Sam Sullivan ran for 86 yards and a touchdown, but that was all the scoring the Neosho Black third graders could muster in an 8-6 loss to Carl Junction White.

Jeremiah Larson ran for 23 yards and had a 20-yard kick return in the loss for Neosho.

On defense, Larson led Neosho with six tackles while Sullivan had five stops. Will Jennings recovered a pair of fumbles for the Wildcats.

FOURTH GRADE
Quarterback Quincey Willis ran for two long scores to lead Neosho Black past Carl Junction White 14-6 Saturday.
Willis ran for 82 yards on six carries to lead the Neosho attack. He also completed two passes, both to Kaden Dickens, for 19 yards. Sam Cook ran for 10 yards on two carries.

R.J. Long had nine tackles, a fumble recovery and defelected a pass to lead the Wildcats' defense. Willis led the team with 10 tackles. Cook and Keaton Sanders each had eight tackles.

FIFTH GRADE
The Neosho black fifth graders fell to Carl Junction White, 42-0..

McKay Harris ran for 32 yards on four carries to lead the Neosho offense.

On defense, Caden Green, Cade Lyerla, Tyler Sullivan and Drew Osborn all had three tackles for the Wildcats.

SIXTH GRADE
The Carl Junction White sixth graders defeated Carl Junction 34-0.

Kaleb Larson finished with 69 yards on 17 carries to lead Neosho offensively. A.C. Marion had 15 yards, Lee Atkins had 14 yards and Jackson Collinsworth had 12 yards rushing.

Zach Jennings led Neosho passing, going 2-for-4 for 27 yards. Marion completed one pass for 17 yards. Theo Morrison had two catches for 39 yards. Larson had four kickoff returns for 57 yards.

Hunter Lockwood led the Neosho defense with seven tackles. Jared Girdner and Luke Kibler had four stops each. Hank Selig had an interception and Davon Willis recovered a fumble.
