Last Saturday, the Neosho Youth Football teams took on Carthage. The gold teams played at Bob Anderson Stadium for the first time this fall, while the black teams traveled to Carthage. Overall, Neosho went 2-6 against their future conference rivals. This weekend, Neosho Black will square off against Webb City Blue on the road. Neosho Gold will stay home and take on Lamar.

BLACK
SIXTH GRADE

It was a defensive battle between the Neosho sixth grade Black team and the Carthage White squad. Ultimately, Carthage mustered just enough offense to top Neosho, 12-6.
The Wildcats were led defensively by Hank Selig, Jackson Collinsworth, Theo Morrison and Zach Dunaway who all had six tackles. Issac Johnston added five stops.
On offense, Kaleb Larson had 86 yards rushing on 14 carries. Larson scored the Wildcats’ only touchdown. Zack Jennings had 10 yards rushing. Jennings also completed 2-of-3 passes for seven yards. Larson had one catch for five yards, Collinsworth had the other reception.

FIFTH GRADE
The Neosho fifth grade Black struggled to get much going on offense and the Carthage White defense had a huge game as the Wildcats fell, 44-6.
Cade Lyerla led the Wildcats with 12 rushing yards. McKay Harris had 10 yards on the ground. The Neosho touchdown came by way of an electric, 62-yard kickoff return for a score by Harris, who finished with 75 return yards. He averaged 18.8 yards per return in the loss.
Defensively, Neosho was led by Trevon Letts and Drew Osborn with four tackles each.

FOURTH GRADE
Quincey Willis continued his stellar season and led the Neosho Black fourth graders to a 24-0 win over Carthage White.
Willis rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Willis also completed one pass to Kaden Dickens. Sam Cook added a 55 yard touchdown run on offense.
On defense, got eight tackles from Cook, RJ Long and Willis. Kolton Sanders added five stops and also returned an interception 25 yards for a score. Sanders also deflected two other passes. Andrew Widener recorded five tackles as well.

THIRD GRADE
Despite a big game rushing the ball by Sam Sullivan, the Neosho Black third graders fell to Carthage White 36-12.
Sullivan had 121 yards and two scores on only six carries.
Defensively, Jeremiah Larson led the way for the Wildcats with six tackles. Sullivan had five tackles while Ryan Cargile, Jacob Ewing and Drayke Perry all had four stops. Perry also forced a fumble that was scooped up by Ewing for the Wildcats’ only forced turnover.

Stats were not available for the Neosho Gold sixth grade game against Carthage Blue. Carthage won the game 44-0.

FIFTH GRADE
The Neosho Gold fifth graders had some success moving the football, however they couldn’t punch it into the end zone and Carthage Blue won a 20-0 decision over the Wildcats.
Dylan Jordan led the way rushing the ball for Neosho with 40 yards on seven carries. Payton Ezell had 11 yards on just two carries for the Wildcats. In the loss, Neosho didn’t have a single run go for negative yardage.
On defense, Neosho Gold was led by Jacob Santiago with six tackles. Jordan had five stops while Colton Mouse, Ethan White and Braxton Barnes all registered four tackles. Mouse also had a quarterback sack in the loss.

FOURTH GRADE
The Neosho Gold fourth grade defense dominated the visiting Carthage Blue squad en route to a 14-0 win for the Wildcats.
AJ Van Lear, Isiah Santiago and Zane Persinger all had interceptions and Nakota Bach recovered a fumble as the Wildcats kept Carthage off the board. Persinger led the Wildcats with six tackles. Gage Kelley, Santiago and Dylan Collins all had five tackles in the win.
On offense, Kelley had a great day running the football. He finished with 76 yards and a touchdown. Van Lear scored the team’s other touchdown on a six-yard quarterback keeper. Van Lear completed four passes for 45 yards as well. Jace Parmley had two catches for 29 yards. Kelley had a 12 yard reception and Santiago had a four yard catch.

THIRD GRADE
In a tightly contested football game, four fumbles spelled doom for the Neosho Gold third graders. They fell to Carthage Blue 14-6.
Chase Liedtke ran hard and finished with 68 yards rushing. He had a 55 yards scoring run for Neosho’s only touchdown. Dalton Brodie had 16 yards on the ground.
Defensively, Neosho was led by Domenick Kirkwood and Liedtke with four tackles each. Liedtke also had a fumble recovery for the Wildcats. Cayden Auch, Landon Austin, Landon Kivett and Brodie all had 3½ stops.
