Christmas came early for some children who participated in the Shopping with Heroes event held on Saturday at the Neosho Wal-Mart Supercenter.
An event raised more than $23,400 and gave the opportunity for 180 children to shop for themselves or even family members.
One family in particular who was there was Kodi Schneider and her three children, Afton, 12, Teigan, 7 and Kasen, 2 ½.
“A neighbor of ours had done it (Shopping with Heroes) in the past and she told us about it,” Kodi said.
Prior to the starting signal from Neosho Police Sgt. Dan Cook, Kodi was asked if her children were ready and eager for the day of shopping.
“They are very eager,” she said. “They thought that it was very nice that they get to go and pick out things they want, things that they were looking forward to getting.”
