• The Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland will host an ice cream social at 6:30 p.m. at the South Elementary School in Neosho on Sept. 9.  They invite all girls interested in joining Girl Scouting from kindergarten to senior high school age.
• The Neosho Newton County Library will host a 6 p.m. viewing in their genealogy room as part of their September classic film festival.
• WHEATON — The Big God Across the Ozarks rally starts at 7 p.m. at Gizmo’s Event Center. Evangelist Ken Freeman will speak and the Forrest family will minister in song.

Friday, Sept. 10
• The Neosho High School All-School Reunion will be Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11 with registration packets available for pick up from 4 – 6 p.m. at the NHS cafeteria and a Rotary Club Chili Supper at 5 p.m. For more information, please e-mail the association at alumnicommittee@neoshoalumni.org
• The NHS homecoming parade will be Friday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m. on the downtown Square. The homecoming football game will be at 7 p.m.
• WHEATON — The Big God Across the Ozarks rally starts at 7 p.m. at Gizmo’s Event Center. Evangelist Ken Freeman will speak and the Forrest family will minister in song.
• The Stella Senior Citizens Center will host a dinner and dance. Dinner will consist of Frito pie, salad, dessert and drink for $4.50 donation from 5:30-7 p.m. Frosty and the Road hogs will be playing from 7-10 for an additional $3.
• DIAMOND — The 18th annual Diamond Gem City Days kicks off with a 6:30 p.m. opening ceremony conducted by the Diamond Police Department, crafts and vendors open at 6 p.m. in the Diamond Christian Church parking lot and local entertainer Duke Mason takes the stage from 7 -9 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 11
• DIAMOND — The George Washington Carver National Monument celebrates life during the 1860s-1880s with Prairie Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 325-4151. .
• DIAMOND — Diamond Gem City Days wraps up with a 10 a.m. parade; 11 a.m. children’s games on the parking lot of Diamond Christian Church; 11 a.m. car, truck and bike show, 11 a.m. Diamond Fire Department chicken dinner (fire station on Highway 59 and Route V) and puppet show from the fire department; 11:30 a.m. Diamond jazz band; noon Old Fat and Ugly band; 1 – 3 p.m. all-school reunion at DHS; 2 – 3 p.m. Billy Jo Gentry sings gospel; 3 – 3:30 p.m. car show awards; 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. music from No Apparent Reason; 6:30 p.m. silent auction winners announced; and 7 – 9 p.m. Coldcreek Rockin’ Country plays.
• Stories, crafts and games will explain the monarch’s life journey to children 3-5 years old at the Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center. The program will run from 10 to 11 p.m. and cost $5 per child. To register call 782-6287.
• An informational program and monarch tagging session will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center. The event is open to ages 7 and up. To register call 782-6287. The program costs $6.
• Faithful Friends Animal Advocates’ “adoption day” will be held at Orscheln’s in Neosho. The event is usually held the first Saturday of the month, but was postponed due to the Labor Day holiday. The group has many dogs and puppies in its menagerie who need good homes, and is looking for foster families for orphaned animals. Please call 592-2512 to help.
• SENECA  — The fourth annual Farmers Feeding Farmers hay auction will start with dinner at 4 p.m. at Seneca Christian Church. The auction will follow at 6 p.m. with proceeds going to the Seneca Area Food Pantry.

• STELLA — The Stella Senior Citizens Center will host Blue Moon Ball with Duke Mason from 7-10 p.m. Admission is $4, refreshments will be furnished at break time. No meal will be served.

Sunday, Sept. 12
• The Merry Makers Family Community Education organization, formerly Extension Homemakers, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept, 12, at the Granby After Dark, 629 E. Valley/Highway 60. Club members ask that the public, as well as all past and present club members, join in the celebration with cake, punch and coffee. For more information, call 472-6971.

Monday, Sept. 13
• The Genealogy Friends of the Library will meet at 6 p.m. at the Lampo building to discuss the future of their organization. For more information contact the genealogy room at 451-6751.
• The Crowder College Community Chorus begins rehearsals at 7 p.m. in Elsie Plaster Community Center room 124. Robert Ensor will direct the chorus in their seventh annual Christmas production of “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.” The chorus welcomes anyone who can sing in tune and its returning members. Friday, Sept. 17
• Jillian Farnsworth Photography will be conducting a fundraiser on Sept. 17 and Sept.19 to benefit the Faithful Friends Animal Advocates. The photography sessions will begin at 4 p.m. each day. The photography studio will be offering mini-portrait sessions of pets at Big Spring Park. People will need to sign-up for a time slot by e-mailing the studio at jillianfarnsworth@yahoo.com. The session is free, but a donation to the Faithful Friends Animal Advocates is suggested. All prints ordered will be charged at cost and all profits will be given to the shelter.
• Premier Turbines will host their 3rd Annual Neosho Fall Charity Classic on Friday, Sept. 17 at the Neosho Golf Course. Shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Lunch is provided. The tournament is a four-person scramble ($50 per person), and is a fundraiser for Neosho YMCA with 100 percent of the proceeds staying local. Hole sponsorships are available for $50 per hole. Saturday, Sept. 18
• A nature photography workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center. Led by Noppadol Paothong participants will learn new skills and practice on the Wildcat Park trails. The event is open to ages 12 and up. To register call 782-6287. The program costs $50. Participants need to bring their own photography equipment.

Sunday, Sept. 19

Tuesday, Sept. 21
•  The Taste of Home Cooking School Show will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at The Civic.  Tickets are $10 per person ($1 off if purchased by Sept. 13).  Tickets are available at the following locations:  Neosho Daily News, Mills Park Centre Furniture & Appliance and the chamber office.  Donations to be used in goody bags and for door prizes are needed.  Any Chamber member who would like to donate items should call our office.  This is an excellent opportunity to promote your business.  The event brings a sell-out crowd of 1,000 people to The Civic and our community.
