Some local events originally set for tonight have been cancelled due to inclement weather, while a pair of area meetings are still on.
• The Newton County Cattlemen’s complimentary beef brisket dinner scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight at Crowder College has been postponed. According to contact Estella Osborn, a new date will be set when Crowder resumes classes, which were also cancelled because of the weather. The dinner is to be sponsored by the Circle A Ranch and centers around a Calf Buy-Back Program. Nick Hammet, commercial marketer for Circle A Ranch, will be the guest speaker. • The Southwest Missouri Pilots Association potluck dinner set for 6 p.m. tonight at the Neosho Hugh Robison Airport terminal has been rescheduled for March 20. More details will follow. • Tonight’s Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours get-together at the Neosho Rec Center has been moved back to Thursday, Feb. 28. All chamber members are invited to attend and enjoy food, drinks and fellowship from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• A regular meeting of the East Newton R-6 Board of Education is still on for tonight at 7 p.m. at the Camerer-Faules Administrative Building, located west of East Newton High School on Missouri Highway 86. Under new business on the agenda, the board was to consider adding three mobile classrooms.
• The Seneca R-7 Board of Education is still scheduled to meet today at 4 p.m. at the district central office at 914 Frisco St. in Seneca. A bond issue discussion was among items listed on the agenda.
