Since June 8, there have been a few campers located on the Neosho Christian Schools’ campus.

The campers are called Sojourners and they have been doing some remodeling in the school.
Sojourners are faithful members of the Church of Christ who have retired and are using the remainder of their Christian lives doing missionary work for God. Their goal is national evangelism. Their office is in Marshall, Texas, and their work is overseen by the elders of the Church of Christ in Burleson, Texas.

“We work four days of the week,” said Cleve McMillion, assistant team leader. “Work about six hours a day. Generally, we know what we are going to do before we get here, because they request help. We come in and work, we pay them rent, we use electricity, water and they feed us.”
Between eight and 10 people were at the school and they left this morning for another project.

“At Neosho Christian Schools, we mainly have been painting the structure, upstairs and downstairs and the electrical work,” said McMillion. “We also did the windows, put some foam and caulked them.”

Generally, Sojourners stay on a project between one week to 10 days to even three weeks.

They can do physical work that might be needed, remodeling, repairs, landscaping work, plumbing, painting and office/library work. They travel within the United States and Canada and can only go where they have been invited.

Seeing the work completed, Neosho Christian Schools Superintendent Lawrence Sanders was pleased.

“It is just invaluable to us, because we don’t have the manpower or the resources to do all of this work that they do,” said Sanders. “They are wonderful people, their heart is in the right place.”
For more information on Sojourners, contact Camp Bee, 5554 Cooks Rd., Marshall, Texas 75670-9130 or call 903-935-5742 or e-mail office@sojourning.org.
