Neosho, Mo. -

Famous TV personalities LaVerne and Edith Tripp will be featured at the Abundant Life Church, 700 Spencer Dr., Neosho, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21.

“They have been Christian Southern gospel TV personalities for decades,” said Renee Bridges, secretary at Abundant Life Church. “This is their first time here.”

The Tripps have hosted the “Praise the Lord” program on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. For more than 33 years of ministry, LaVerne has seen more than 700,000 souls born into the kingdom of God, traveled around the world, built Bible schools, churches, children’s homes, and now is the sole sponsor of 300 children adopted in India.

He joined the world-famous Blue Ridge Quartet in 1969. For seven years, he sang lead with this group and led them to unprecedented success. During this period, he wrote and recorded three consecutive number one songs: “I Know,” “That Day Is Almost Here,” and “After Calvary.”

LaVerne’s song, “We’ve Got the Power,” has, and is continuing to be sung, by the church around the world. In 2001, CCMA presented him with the Living Legend Award at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. CCMA also awarded him the for his No. 1 song, “A Bible and A Bus Ticket Home,” from the project, “We Will Rise Above It All.”

“It is an evangelistic type (event),” Bridges said. “He will be singing, and his wife sings as well. He also ministers in the word. There will be a preaching message. Promotional items will be with them.”

LaVerne just released his 79th full-length recording entitled, “Foundation Stones.” It is comprised of 15 of LaVerne’s favorite hymns, including “Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace,” “Jesus Loves Me,” as well as 13 others. The songs on this recording are the foundation stones life is built upon.

“We are excited for them to come in,” said Bridges.” They contacted the us. KNEO does feature their music (on their radio station).”

Weekly, Edith and LaVerne travel to churches across America and around the world sharing their songs and message of hope, freedom and deliverance to all who will listen.

Bridges said that all are welcome to this free event, a love offering will be taken.
