The Newton County Community Coalition (NCCC) concluded Tuesday's monthly noon meeting in the Talkington Foundation/Kelly Club by dividing into three groups to more closely study the issues of marijuana use, prescription drug abuse, and underage alcohol use.

The Newton County Community Coalition (NCCC) concluded Tuesday's monthly noon meeting in the Talkington Foundation/Kelly Club by dividing into three groups to more closely study the issues of marijuana use, prescription drug abuse, and underage alcohol use.
"The purpose of these committees is to plan strategies to combat those issues that are within our community," advised Tal Clubbs, Drug Free Communities Grant coordinator for NCCC. "An example is one of the strategies that the alcohol committee is already on top of is the compliance checks and the retail beverage service trainings. And just coming up with new ideas, new ways to get information out to the community and effect a change in regards to substance abuse and try to lower some of those rates."
