Last July, the Crowder College Board of Trustees approved Building On Our Base: Crowder College Strategic Plan 2016-2020 and put it into motion.  This year, Crowder College President Jennifer Methvin presented an annual report on the plan for board members. The plan's vision has four Strategic Directions: balance, advance, strengthen and expand.
The plan recognizes, reinforces, and builds upon Crowder’s innate strengths; positions Crowder to enhance student success and development; and augments Crowder’s ability to fulfill their mission of building a civil, serving, literate, learning community of responsible citizens.

"As I present my annual report on our progress through Year 1, I think you will see that we have been successful on a number of fronts and have created momentum for future progress in others.  In a few areas, we need to rethink and refocus our efforts."
Those areas include Improving the Graduation and Student transfer rate and the income cash reserves, which showed much improvement but did not met the set specification.
Items which were met include the performance funding measure for a three-year graduation and transfer rate, focus on quality, affordability, Cultivating the Crowder Culture of Service, Advance Student Success and Developing a new General Education Philosophy.
Expanding the current 'The Success Is You' campaign, part of the Strategic Plan, has included current students who have reached milestones, implemented a high school poster program with forty five posters placed thus far, and increased focus on Crowder graduates who work for area business partners.
Other areas that saw progress made and are part of the Strategic Plan included developing a coordinated enrollment and management plan, the expand academic programs cohort, to develop and implement an annual marketing plan that aligns with the enrollment management plan and strategic plan, and to expanded, personalize and publicize academic awards, scholarships, student transfer and student employment.
At the July Board of Trustees meeting, Methvin also told members, "In my experience, the success of such a plan not only lies in the work that is being accomplished through the planned strategies, but also in the direction, focus, and collaboration the plan lends to an institution's routine operation. I have continually emphasizes that it is important that the four Strategic Directions not only guide our decisions action and allocation of resources but also permeate the day-to-day work of each division, department, office, and employee. In this way, a strategic plan can empower every employee to participate in reaching the goals."
