In honor of their new corporate headquarters, Opal Foods of Neosho received a Grow Neosho Expansion award on Wednesday.
"It's a great day for Neosho," said Mike Franks, Grow Neosho. "Grow Neosho is ecstatic to be here today. This is the new corporate headquarters. They did a fabulous job."
"Opal Foods new corporate headquarters represents an investment of over $1.4 million dollars," Brock Peterson, President, Opal Foods, said. "This investment has created a central headquarters of over 17,000 square feet to house the management and operations teams, which oversee multiple egg farm operations in Missouri and Colorado."
Opal Foods was created in 2014 when three companies were combined to create Opal.
"We've been growing steadily ever since," Peterson said.
The company has 350 employees, most of which are in the Neosho area.
The new headquarters are located at the former Neosho Power Sports site but the building has undergone extensive remodeling and renovation. Floor to ceiling windows were added on each side along with an open work space area, two upstairs conference rooms, a kitchen, employee break room with an adjacent patio, and a community room.
"This was a motor sports company,"Peterson said. "We wanted an open concept, space we can grow into."
Representatives from Grow Neosho, the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce, and several local businesses were on hand for the award presentation. Missouri Senator Ron Richard, Missouri 160th district state representative Bill Reiboldt, and a representative from 7th district Congressman Billy Long's office were also present.
“We are excited to recognize Opal Foods investment in Neosho,” said Mike Franks, CEO of Grow Neosho. “This facility will support the efforts of a growing company, including making it a preferred employer. Creating a great work environment is a key part of being a great employer. Opal Foods is sending a clear signal that it values its team.”
Prior to the April 2017 tornado, Peterson stated that the company had 4.3 million birds. The rebuilding process is under way and Opal Foods plans additional expansion in the area of the Neosho School Farm.
“We are very pleased to open the doors of the new Opal Foods headquarters to the residents of the Neosho-area”, said Tiffani Sonderegger, Opal Foods Human Resources Officer. “Our new offices are just one of our investments in our Neosho operations. We have also expanded our cage free laying operations, and are preparing to replace the operations that were damaged by the recent tornado.”             Opal Foods produces all natural eggs as a franchise of Eggland's Best.  Specialty eggs sold under the Eggland's Best and Land of Lakes labels include farm fresh, cage free, fat free, organic, brown eggs, and eggs with Omega 3.
