Pro 100 Realtors of Neosho, presented Hope Kitchen with a $465 check Wednesday morning. According to Bill Punch with Pro 100, "it has been amazing on what they have done over there (at the kitchen)."
As to why Pro 100 opted to give a donation to the kitchen, Punch said, "we collect a thing called Project Neosho, during the year from all of the agents. Then we vote on what charities we feel like to receive it. We have done Hope Kitchen for three years, we just think that they do a wonderful job...I was kind of personally involved to begin with, because I was the real estate agent working with the owner of that property, that was able to sell it to Hope Kitchen. I presented it to the other real estate agents and they feel like it was a great cause."
The kitchen - located at 219 E. Main St., Neosho - is open from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Area churches, individuals and civic groups prepare the food and serve the food at the kitchen.
The money donated will go back into the general operating fund for the kitchen.
"It goes right into the operating fund, this is enough money to feed 200 people on any night that we are open," Desiree Bridges, ministry director at Hope Kitchen said. "It takes around $500 to feed the amount of people that we are feeding and so you could call this 'a one night meal scholarship.'"
Bridges was pleased with the donation.
"There really is no word, my heart is just overflowing every time I go to the mailbox, every time I receive a phone call that says 'we have a gift for Hope Kitchen,' it just continues to show me the goodness of the hearts of the people in our community and the faithfulness of the Lord and do what we have been called to do," she said.
Pro 100 Realtors also donated to this year's Shop with a Hero.
