A number of local and area business and professional people gathered at Teen Challenge of the Four States, located just east of Neosho on Highway 86, on Friday for the First Friday Coffee.
Teen Challenge was this month's host for the event, sponsored each month by the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce.
"Thank you and welcome," Chief Executive Officer and pastor Jim Lowans told those who attended. "We hosted this (event) on a regular basis for our first few years."
Teen Challenge staff presented their hospitality to the guests who attended. Coffee, tea, orange juice, yogurt, and a variety of sweet muffins were provided.
Lowans also announced the date for the annual business breakfast hosted by Teen Challenge.
"It's a way to thank business and professional people, not just for what you do for Teen Challenge, but for what you do for the Neosho area," Lowans said.
He also spoke about plans for expanding their facility in the near future.
"As for us, I'll just mention quickly that we do have plans to add onto the building, in the back, here," Lowans announced. "We have a program here that has gone from a 4-month stay to a full year for the guys so what that's going to do is cut down on the number of intakes we have here, as far as beds go. We currently have 20 beds and we'll be upping that."
The new addition will be a 4,300-square-foot two-story addition and will be placed near the back of the current main building. It will provide for 12 additional beds, bringing the total number up to approximately 35.
"That's the plans we have," Lowans said, noting that the project will probably get underway later this year.
