Tiny Houses are huge, not in size but in popularity. While the average American home is around 2,600-square- feet, a Tiny House can be anywhere between 200 to 500-square-feet.
Numerous television programs air that focus on the small homes, at least four on the Home and Garden Network and several more on the FYI Network.  There's also a Tiny House and Simple Living Jamboree each year.
The Tiny House  movement has increased over the past few years as some people choose to downsize their living space and to opt for a simpler lifestyle.
Omega Mod Group (OMG) announced this week that they have purchased the former Twin Rivers property adjacent to downtown Neosho. Chief Executive Officer Darin Zaruba says the company plans to move their housing production plant and corporate headquarters to Neosho.
"We are excited to become an integral part of this great community and look forward to working with the town, with the state, and alongside Crowder College," David Papen, OMG Director of Operations said.
OMG is a subsidiary of EcoVentures LLC based in Colorado Springs, CO. Their main priority will be modular housing production with a focus on modern proprietary designs and private label builds for builders and developers.
The acquired property includes approximately 130,000-square-feet in a five-acre complex.  Although a date for an official grand opening or a start date for production have not yet been announced, it's anticipated both could take place within the next 2 to 3 months. At full capacity, the facility OMG could employ as many as 300 employees in various divisions. The facility would be capable of producing approximately 10 housing modules today. Modules fashioned in Neosho will be used in many different configurations and applications include housing, recreation, commercial and military uses.
The complex will be home to multiple companies including construction supply, design, sales, marketing, production, and a boutique 4-story 20-room loft-style hotel. The hotel would serve clients, investors, and visitors to the area.
"After much deliberation we chose Neosho as the place to plant our headquarter's flag, to expand even more," Zaruba said. "We love the town, the location, the college and the new facility will be state of the art."
Tiny Houses are built on site, on wheels, so that the purchaser can relocate the home to property of their choosing.
The City of Seneca is considering an ordinance which would allow tiny houses to be placed in the community. In Neosho, however, the size of the homes would currently prohibit placement.
"Currently our zoning and building code requires a minimum of 650 square feet of living space and the building would be required to be constructed on site," John Harrington, City of Neosho Development Services and building instructor told the Neosho Daily News.
EccoVentures companies have become nationwide leaders in the Tiny House Movement. The group founded the National Tiny House Jamboree, which is the worldwide gathering and industry event for the industry. This year's event will be held August 23-24 at the Travis County Expo Center in Austin, Texas.
"We are excited and we can't wait to get started," Zaruba stated. In addition to his role as CEO for OMB, Zaruba is also the author of a book about the Tiny House Movement. 'Turning Tiny: the small living paradigm that's reshaping the way we think', available on Amazon.com in both hard cover and eBook formats.
The Omega Mod Group facility will be located at 225 North Washington Street, just a few blocks from the Neosho Downtown Square.
