During Crowder Aggie Day on Thursday, Chip Cortez of Carthage, received the Outstanding Agriculture Alumni from Crowder College.
"I came here in the fall of 2004 and graduated in December 2006," he said. "I did take some Ag classes, one of most favorite classes was animal reproduction, where actually had AI Cattle. I also loved the castrating of the bulls and doing some of that farm work. But I got an general agricultural degree at Crowder."
He currently works for Specialty Risk Insurance in Sarcoxie.
"I am an insurance agent, we specialize in commercial Ag, farm, ranch and I do a lot of poultry house insurance.," Cortez said.
Cortez said he was very appreciative of the alumni award.
"It means a lot to me, when you are looking back 12 years ago, I was here at Crowder, and to get an award after the fact, it means quite a bit to a guy," he said.
