GRANBY — For students in the East Newton School District, there will be two locations for the East Newton United (ENU) Back to School Bash on Thursday, Aug. 9

"East Newton Back to School Bash will be held at both the Granby and Triway campuses from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is free to all East Newton students pre-K to 12th grade," said Shannon McDermott with East Newton United. "The main purpose of the event is we want to ensure all of our students are ready for back to school by meeting their basic needs while having fun and getting them excited to be a part of East Newton Schools.  Being able to bring ENU partners together to share in the excitement is always a great thing for our community."

This is the fourth year for this event. McDermott said they anticipate about 150 students per building to attend.

"We will have free haircuts by local stylist, free meals for students by OPAA!, games, activities, informational booths and so much more," she said. "All students of the East Newton School District are welcome, no pre-registration required. We will have various ENU Partners giving out notebooks, pencils, custom water bottles and much more."

McDermott said they are pleased to offer this event.

"We are very excited to see our community partners coming together to welcome our students back to school in a positive and fun environment," she said.

Upcoming

"ENU will be accepting school supply donations at the Back to School Event to be used in the Patriot Closet at each of our three campuses (Granby, Triway and East Newton High School)," said McDermott. "By having stocked school supply closets we will be able to assist students lacking school supplies at the moment the need is identified, providing them adequate tools for success in a confidential manner."
