The South Street bridge over the Kansas City Southern railroad tracks in eastern Neosho closed to through traffic on Monday for planned and necessary repairs. A delay from the contractor's steel supplier who provided the reinforcing steel for the bridge work caused the project to be postponed from the anticipated start date of July 30.

Work is expected to take approximately two weeks. Dalton-Killinger Construction, Joplin, is performing the work on the bid accepted July 3, 2018 at the Neosho City Council meeting. The work will include repairs to the bridge and installation of bridge approach side slabs. This will correct the current problems, which are a result of settlement at the fill face on each end of the bridge.

The City of Neosho asks that motorists adjust their schedule and use detours until the project is completed. Citizen patience is appreciated.
