Girl Scout Troop 70098 is raising money to purchase a handicap swing to be placed in a park in Neosho.

The idea originated with Emily Barnhart, a member of the Girl Scout Troop. Barnhart said, “One day I realized if a child in a wheelchair wants to go to the park, they have to travel outside of Neosho, and that means they probably can’t go. So I gave the idea to my troop that we raise money for the swing and donate it to Neosho.”

Troop members have raised more than half of the approximately $2,000 needed for the swing. Southwest Missouri Bank has offered a matching grant to help them reach their goal.

Jeff Maxwell, Vice President, said, “We are proud of these girls and the work they’ve put in to make this swing a reality in Neosho. We wanted to help them reach their goal, which will of course help our entire community.”

All are invited to come to the lemonade stand on Saturday. Lemonade will be sold for $1 a glass. Donations are accepted.
