The Missouri State Beekeepers Association will hold its semi-annual conference in Kirksville for the first time in 40 years.

The conference takes place Oct. 19-20 at the Truman State University Student Union Building. It will host panels on beekeeping practices and talks by experts including Jerry Hayes, Dr. Julian Rangel and Dr. Judy Wu-Smart and will feature a banquet honoring the association’s past “Beekeepers of the Year.”

MSBA president Clayton Lee, a past Kirksville resident, said he is excited for the conference to return after so many years away.

Lee said the conference will feature resources for members of the public who are interested in learning about beekeeping for the first time, including a session on beekeeping basics and one about cooking with honey. Vendors will also be present selling beekeeping equipment of all kinds.
