Nearly 100 golfers converged on Neosho Municipal Golf Course for an afternoon and evening of fun and fellowship during the annual Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce Industrial Appreciation Golf Tournament.
The event, held Thursday afternoon, pays tribute to the businesses and industries who support the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce during the year. A dinner reception was held after the golf tournament to pay tribute to local industry leaders and their contributions to the success of Neosho’s employment base. But, the main attraction of the day was the golf tournament, and honors were given in four different flights.
In the industrial flight, Brett Hutchins and Scott Hammick, of Twin Rivers, took first place with a score of 64, six-under par. The tournament was played in a two-person scramble format. Bill Williams and Chad Southern took second place in the industrial flight with a score of 66.
In the first flight, Tyler Smith and Richard Clemons took first place with an impressive score of 12-under-par 58, four strokes better than Jim Robertson and Chad Smith. Hutchins and Hammick took third with their 64. In the second flight, Bruce Mahr and Aaron Arlington took first place, followed by Richard Hendricks and Mark Hendricks, and the team of Kent Massey and Doug Greenly. All three teams had scores of one-over-par 71.
In the third flight, Ken Mayer and Adam Telford captured top honors, followed by Jerry Dunlop and R. Vancleave in second place and Bill Lee and Stuart Puckett in third place. All three teams posted scores of 76.
Closest to the pin winners were: Smith (two feet, 6 inches on hole 2); Southern (6-5, hole No. 4); Carl Daugherty (4-6 on hole No. 8); and Bill Williams (4-7, hole No. 13). Smith also won the longest drive contest on hole No. 12.
