A new fitness center catering to women will open soon in Neosho.
Team Fit Studios, located at 1721 LaQuesta Dr., Suite 1, will host its grand opening from 11 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Saturday. The public is invited to attend, where food, door prizes and specials will be offered. The co-owners are Julie Rae and Mel Ornelas.
“I am a certified personal trainer and I have a passion for women’s health and wellness,” said Rae. “I just want to make a difference and change the lives of Neosho residents and, through education and nutrition and training, teach the future generation.”
Open exclusively for women, the center will be a fitness and personal training studio. It will be open 24/7, and members will have the option of either having a key so they can let themselves in and out or by appointment only with a one-on-one personal training session.
“We are also going to offer group training sessions to make it more affordable,” Rae added. “We are going to have nutrition support, where we will teach them how to eat, how to shop, offer them weekly menus, recipes, set them up with their individual calorie needs…. special services like nutrition seminars. We would like to get the children of Neosho involved and do a get healthy campaign for kids. We want to have elderly classes, self defense, and would like to get out in the community and do events, competitions, maybe use the track and do family competitions.”
Adding to her comments, Ornelas said, “Our team fit is definitely different and sets us aside from anything else.”
The 1,200-square-foot building will also house cardio equipment such as treadmills, bikes, cable machines and free weights (dumbbells).
“We are going to charge for what they want, because we are offering so many different things,” said Rae. “Monthly membership is $25 for just the gym a month. If they just want training sessions, they would not have to pay that $25 fee, it would just be the session rate. Same thing with the nutrition. They are just going to pay for the services that they want.”
The two began thinking about the new center less than a year ago. Rae has been training for a number of years and that is exactly how the two met.
“I hired Julie as my personal trainer,” Ornelas said. “I lost close to 20 pounds. My goal starting out was to lose 30 pounds, but I see my self losing another 20 pounds.”
Soon Ornelas will train her own clients.
“So, it is a work in progress. I am very excited about it,” said Ornelas. “I really get excited about the cardio boxing. I am in the process of getting certified to train and I should be certified by the time the doors open.”
