One foundation is helping another foundation with a donation.

The Walton Family Foundation presented a $2,500 check to Crowder College’s Foundation this morning at the Tatum Bell Tower.

“It is a way to give back to the communities that we serve and thank the communities for the opportunity we have to be of service to them,” said Bill Lee, Arvest community president of the Neosho and Carthage locations. “We are very pleased to be able to do this and we hope that it does help in many ways.”

Crowder College President Alan Marble said he was thankful for the $2,500 donation.

“We appreciate this very much,” Marble said. “We appreciate the relationship with Arvest and the Walton Foundation. And we will put it to good use, to the scholarship fund. We have very deserving students who will use it wisely.”

The Crowder College Foundation began a year after the college was founded in 1963.

“The foundation supports Crowder College and the functions of Crowder College,” Crowder College Foundation Director Pam Hudson said. “Primarily, we support students and student scholarships. We support capital projects of the college and other smaller projects of the college. We support equipment purchases for faculty and for the athletic department and for staff and for extra things that are not built in the budget.”

Right now, the foundation’s major campaign is for the new academic building, which will be located just south of McDonald Hall.

“It will be a health and sciences building,” Hudson said. “Primarily, we will house a nursing wing and natural sciences. We have a couple of labs for biology, chemistry, physics and a complete new suite for the nursing department.”
