A Diamond man suffered moderate injuries in a crash with a highway patrol cruiser that took place at 4:45 p.m. Friday on Route FF, five miles east of Joplin in Jasper County.

Daniel J. Jones-Drake, 20, sought his own treatment in the crash. Meanwhile, the trooper, Michael S. Bracker, 41, of Carthage, declined treatment of minor injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened as an eastbound 2008 Crown Victoria driven by Bracker pulled onto the shoulder to initiate a U-turn and catch up to a traffic violator and was struck in the side of an eastbound 1994 Chevrolet driven by Jones-Drake.
