By a vote of 119 to 89 votes, voters of Diamond voted to have a one-half cent sales tax for storm water and parks during Tuesday’s election.

“(This is) to help the city’s parks and take care of the groundwater problems that we have in the heavy rains,” Diamond Mayor Steve Carter said. “Right now, we just don’t have enough money in the general fund to do anything with ground water or the parks. This will provide a base fund for that. Over a long period, we will make Diamond have some really nice parks and be able to take care of our groundwater and some walking trails.”
