The news is positive for the East Newton School District after the Department of Secondary Education's 2009 Annual Performance Report was issued on Dec. 1.
The East Newton School District met all 14 of 14 requirements for a positive review, and could be in line for a Performance with Distinction honor.
The East Newton School District met the requirements in mathematics grades 3-5, communication arts grades 3-5, mathematics grades 6-8, communication arts grades 6-8, and also in Algebra I and English II at the high school level.
In the MSIP Standard/Indicator categories, the East Newton School District met the requirements in the following: ACT, career education courses, college placement, career education placement, graduation rate and attendance rate. The district did not meet the requirement in advanced courses.
