Around two dozen or so streets topped the street repair/paving list during the Granby City Council meeting on Tuesday night in city hall.
“There are quite a few streets (on the list),” said Granby mayor pro-tem Carol Sparnicht. “It is not the entire street, it is just spots on the streets.”
Some of the streets on the list include – but not limited to – Fortune, Teller, Elm, Grove, S. Main (Baptist Church), Hillcrest, W. Neosho St., King St., S. Cole, and Tower Rd.
“There are some chip and seal, some cut out and replace, it is a wide variety, there are several different things that need to be done,” she said.
“It is patches, but some of them are pretty big, some of them are pretty good size.”
The council will take bids for the work, and the mayor added “for independent contractors to come in and give us bids and see where we can go from there. We have the funds, we just need to get somebody in here to do it.”
During the June 8 regular city council meeting, council members opted to hold a work session on June 10.
“On that work session, we went through (the lists),” the mayor pro-tem said. “In the past, it was north side, south side. And the biggest thing now, it is not a north or south side issue, it is a city issue. So we need to take care of all of those discrepancies, not just north or south side.”
Under new business, the council made a decision on a request from TJ White, animal control, where he would like to keep the blue truck at his house.
“The biggest issue is that it is just a liability for the city to allow our trucks to go home with each individual or each employee,” Sparnicht said.
The council voted against White’s request.
Another issue brought before the council dealt with the wastewater plant.
According to the agenda, there was an item to purchase a transfer switch for the amount of $2,566 plus freight.
The council opted to wait on the request.
“We decided that we were going to wait and go through our finances and see what we can do at this point and time,” the mayor pro-tem said.
The council also voted to hold another work session at 3 p.m. Friday at city hall to go over the city’s budget.
